The North Carolina Tar Heels finally ended their losing streak as they took down Campbell in Week 10 at home. After losing to Virginia and Georgia Tech in back-to-back games, they got back on track and so did quarterback Drake Maye.
He’s quietly producing another impressive season for the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill and as his career likely winds down, he’s looking to help UNC win out over the next few weeks.
While UNC got back on track, Maye also got back into Tom Fornelli’s weekly quarterback rankings. The CBS Sports writer had Maye out of his rankings after the two losses, putting him in “detention” as he called it. But now Maye is out and he’s ranked No. 9:
Maye is finally out of detention following two straight losses, though as you can see by his placement, it’s just barely. Maye played very well in North Carolina’s win over Georgia Tech, but he has to shoulder a healthy portion of the blame for the loss to Virginia. But, hey, North Carolina beat Campbell, so everything is better now! Or, at a minimum, Maye has regained QB Power Rankings eligibility. (In Detention)
Maye has the chance to climb even more as UNC gets set to face off against Duke this week at home. From there, they will head on the road to battle Clemson and then NC State.
