Logan Paul, since joining WWE, has been performing part-time due to his involvement in outside ventures such as boxing and spearheading the Prime energy drink. He has competed for titles, headlined a premium live event and been a part of quality matches, despite not having a wrestling background.
Dazzling his audience aside, Paul repeatedly lost in the ring. He often fell short against most of his opponents, despite being somewhat of a special attraction, so something had to change eventually to make him credible.
At SummerSlam, the social media star’s luck turned when he defeated Ricochet. After winning a boxing match and taking time off, he returned to take the United States Championship from Rey Mysterio at Crown Jewel — easily his biggest WWE win.
In an interview with The Daily Mail, Paul celebrated his win and was in awe of how far he has come from his beginnings.
It’s crazy, I really don’t know how to comprehend what my life has become. I grew up in a city where things like this didin’t really happen. I believe in myself, I work my a** off and next thing I know I’m fighting Rey Mysterio for the US championship and I won it.
Paul admitted to feeling shocked by his Crown Jewel win, while not-so-subtly bragging about becoming the United States champion.
It feels amazing. I’m shocked and I want to stay humble but f*** that, it’s so much more fun to be arrogant about it! This [belt] ain’t leaving my side. This is one of the biggest accomplishments of my life. I’m gonna take over this industry bro. I’m gonna be the best and I’ve got to keep work really hard.
The 28-year-old also commented on his potential to become the face of WWE, emphasizing that he hopes to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Something is so appetizing about the idea of doing the best I can in this industry and I know the best I can do is to become the face of the WWE, is to become the undisputed universal champion.
Paul has ways to go to become the WWE Champion, but for now, he holds the United States Championship and is at a checkpoint of his young WWE career. How his reign fares, though, will determine the WWE superstar he grows into, however long he stays in the ring.
