On Saturday night, Jalen Milroe broke a record for the most rushing touchdowns by an Alabama quarterback in a single game as he ran for four scores to lead the Tide to a 42-28 victory over LSU.
He carried the ball 20 times for 155 yards and four touchdowns and he wasn’t bad in the passing game either as he finished the game 15-for-23 for 219 yards. He was a game changer that the Tigers could not tackle and he was a guy they could not stop on third down. The Tide finished 11-14 on third-down conversions.
That’s a rate that will get you beaten every time. Brian Kelly talked about the challenge of stopping Milroe after the game.
“I’ve got to watch the film to know, there were two times where we didn’t get a particular call, where we should have been in a particular call, where we would have had an end looping right into it,” he said. “So there were some missed calls out there that require a discipline of the group.
“So, again, for me to answer like right after the game and give you a specific, we knew his strengths. We had a game plan that we felt that would address it. But we are limited in some of the things that we can do and didn’t want to get into a lot of man situations.”
The athleticism of Milroe proved to be too much for LSU on Saturday night.
