For just the second time this season, Penn State will be forced to embrace the role of underdog in its upcoming game. Penn State hosts Michigan this weekend for a noon kickoff in Beaver Stadium, and they will do so as a solid underdog.
According to the opening lines from FanDuel on Sunday, Penn State is a 7-point underdog at home against the Wolverines. Penn State was previously a 5.5-point underdog in the opening line for its road game at Ohio State a few weeks ago. Penn State failed to cover that point spread.

Penn State has been a double-digit favorite in every game it has played in Beaver Stadium this season, but Michigan is by far the most challenging opponent to visit State College this season. Michigan has made short work of every opponent it has faced this season and has scored 40 points or more in each of the last four games it has played.
Of course, on the flip side, Penn State will be the first team Michigan has faced this season that has any pulse on defense. And games in this series in Beaver Stadium have tended to be competitive in recent seasons.
We’ll pay close attention to this line throughout the week and take a deeper look at the betting trends to know leading up to the game. But the initial line suggests Michigan is a solid favorite this weekend when they come to town.
