Brooklyn Nets guard Lonnie Walker IV has been showing the Nets fanbase everything that he can do on a nightly basis through six games this season. He has been something that the team lost a lot of this offseason: a player who can score at all three levels and do it in an efficient manner.
Walker, who scored 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field and 1-of-2 shooting from behind the three-point line in Saturday’s 124-114 loss to the Boston Celtics, was able to get whatever shot he wanted in his 17 minutes off the bench. In fact, it’s something that Walker has been doing in every game that he’s played in this season.
Walker has played in five games this season, he did not play in the season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he has scored at least 11 points in every contest, including dropping 19 points in Brooklyn’s 133-121 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Oct. 30. Walker seems to be confident every time he steps on the floor and he explained why to Meghan Triplett of YES Network after Saturday’s loss:
“Just knowing that a lot of people really can’t guard me, you know? If I see people in front of me, just making the game easy. Get to the paint with my speed and athleticism, understanding that my teammates are around me, making my teammates better. My father always said just never, never show a man your weakness. So, when I’m on the court, I don’t want to make no excuses.”
