Whenever anything related to Texas A&M star linebacker Edgerrin Cooper comes out in the news cycle, it’s likely centered around his incredible play in 2023, as the ascending junior currently leads the Aggies with 52 tackles, a team-high seven sacks, and 15.5 tackles for loss, good enough for second nationally.
In October, Cooper erupted, resulting in his NFL Draft stock skyrocketing, amassing 22 tackles, six tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. While his pass rush skillset has enhanced tenfold, his ability in pass coverage has been borderline elite, and according to Pro Football Focus, Cooper leads all FBS linebackers with a 91.6 coverage grade.
Already rated as PFF’s highest-rated linebacker, this comes as no surprise after A&M’s recent 30-17 win over South Carolina, where Cooper disrupted every screen and short pass quarterback Spencer Rattler could muster with the Aggies’ defense in his face on nearly every snap.

With four games remaining to turn things around after already enduring three losses, Texas A&M will continue to lean on Edgerrin Cooper and the 7th-ranked Aggie defense that may go down in the history books when it’s all said and done.
Texas A&M will face the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford (MS) on Saturday, Nov. 4, where the game will again air on ESPN at 11:00 a.m. CT.
