The Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren’t out of the running yet, but their quest for the NFC South could be defined by the next couple of games.
Tampa Bay will be facing an AFC opponent in the Houston Texans in Week 9, but the team is currently suffering from a three-game skid and can’t afford to drop too many more games with the division-leading Atlanta Falcons facing a very easy schedule up ahead. It isn’t do or die, but the Bucs will very much want to do as much as they can before the two teams meet again on Sept. 10.
The Texans also started out decently strong led by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, but have had a string of bad losses — including to the Carolina Panthers, who remain the NFL’s worst team by record. Houston has a good chance to get back on track with a win over Tampa Bay, but it remains injury ridden and lacking in depth.
According to BetMGM, the Texans are 2.5-point favorites against the Bucs. The over-under is set at 40.
Will the Bucs finally end their three-game skid against a scrappy Houston Texans team? Or will Stroud and company get the win at home and send Tampa Bay to the danger zone for 2023?
