Recruiting service names Nebraska among biggest winners in October

The Cornhuskers on Tuesday were named one of the Midwest’s big winners on the recruiting trail for October.

With the calendar officially flipping to November, Rivals, one of the country’s major recruiting services, released their October winners and losers for the Midwest region when it comes to their success on the recruiting trail.

In the article, Rivals national recruiting analyst Clint Cosgrove named the Nebraska Cornhuskers as one of October’s big winners.

“We all know that Nebraska had a major rebuild in front of itself when hiring Matt Rhule and while the results on the field haven’t always been magical like Husker fans hoped, there are signs of progress including three-straight conference wins to put the team in a three-way tie for first place in the West.”

As mentioned by Cosgrove, the Huskers picked up a pair of commitments this month in three-star legacy Caleb Benning, who made his decision on October 20. They then picked up Texas defensive end Jaxon Lee on Sunday.

The Huskers were also named winners in October despite losing a pair of commitments from RB Kewan Lacy and S Callen Barta.

Matt Rhule’s first full recruiting cycle class with the Cornhuskers currently features 26 commitments and is ranked by Rivals as the 26th-best recruiting class in the country.
