Raiders fire OC Mick Lombardi in addition to Josh McDaniels

The Raiders are cleaning house. And no one is safe. After firing Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler late into the night on Tuesday, the Raiders made another firing on Wednesday morning.

According to Albert Breer of MMQB, the Raiders have fired offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi. That news is somewhat shocking as McDaniels and Lombardi were the two main playcallers and designers in Las Vegas.

The Raiders had the least explosive offense in the NFL this season and never scored more than 19 points (on offense) in a single game. They lead the NFL in interceptions thrown and their lack of a run game doomed them. Given that McDaniels was let go, it’s not a huge shock that Mark Davis decided to fire the two main people in charge of running that side of the ball.

While it hasn’t been announced, the expectation is that Scott Turner will take over the offense and call plays. He was the passing game coordinator for the Raiders and has 12 years of coaching experience. He called plays during his time in Washington and is likely to get the chance to do that again in Las Vegas.
