Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier addressed the media on Monday following the 43-20 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.
The halfway point of the 2023 college football has come and gone and a reporter asked Napier about the differences between his first and second year of coaching the Gators.
Napier said it comes down to the roster, which is comprised of a lot of athletes that he recruited to the team.
“I think the biggest difference would be the makeup of our roster,” Napier said. “Relative to who’s gaining experience, who’s been productive, the leadership that we see at the player level, the level of discipline that we observe every day, the camaraderie, the chemistry of the group. And look, I think the football’s improved in a lot of areas on our team.”
Although the Gators have certainly shown a vast improvement from last season, Napier says the Gators’ efficiency has been on the come up as well, but there’s still plenty to work on.
“I mean, there are areas where we have gotten better,” Napier said. “There are still areas where we need to play with more consistency. Overall, I think we’re operating at a little bit more efficient rate. I think there are good processes in place.”
“We’re getting better at what we do,” Napier continued. “We haven’t necessarily got the results we wanted a couple of times this year, but I do think that there’s improvement in the big picture.”
Napier and his team will have a chance to improve again and redeem the Georgia loss this Saturday.
The Florida Gators will challenge the Arkansas Razorbacks at home on Saturday. The game is slated to kick off at noon EST and will broadcast on ESPN2.
