The Raiders need to consider a quarterback change

The Raiders aren’t good. After eight weeks, they have a record of 3-5 and have the No. 30 scoring offense. They have yet to score more than 19 points on offense in any single game and have not completed a pass over 20 air yards in back-to-back weeks.

But worse yet, the Raiders are boring. Nothing about the offense is fun. The only exciting part about the entire team is Maxx Crosby, who had a fantastic performance on Monday Night Football. Outside of him, the Raiders might have the least exciting team in the NFL right now.

They also have one of the NFL’s worst quarterbacks right now with Jimmy Garoppolo leading the league in interceptions (9) despite only playing 5.5 games. Garoppolo has taken a bunch of sacks, isn’t throwing the ball down the field, and is leading the league in turnovers. Something has to change.

With this season looking like a lost year for the Raiders, it might be time to make a quarterback change. Aidan O’Connell had a promising preseason but struggled in his first start. He probably isn’t the long-term answer for the Raiders, but at least he gives the franchise some kind of hope and excitement.

The Raiders are going to be in the quarterback market in 2024. That much is for sure. They might as well try to figure out what they have in O’Connell before diving back into the market again next offseason.

If nothing else, it would make the team a bit more exciting for at least a few weeks. And there is really nothing to suggest they’ll be worse. Because the Raiders are already at rock bottom on offense.
