USC’s Isaiah Collier named to Bob Cousy Award watch list

Isaiah Collier has a lot to live up to.

USC point guard Isaiah Collier was named to the 2024 Bob Cousy Award watch list, which recognizes the top collegiate point guards. The announcement was made by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

Collier is a five-star freshman point guard. He is also the consensus No. 1 recruit in the 2023 class. He was named in high school as the 2022-23 Naismith Player of the Year, the MaxPreps Player of the Year, and the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year.  As a senior, Collier averaged 19.6 points, 6.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game for Wheeler High in Georgia.  Collier was a 2022-23 McDonald’s All-American. He went on to become co-MVP at the McDonald’s All-American Game, where he scored a game-high 25 points.

Previous winners of the Bob Cousy Award include Markquis Nowell of Kansas State (2023), Ja Morant of Murray State (2019), Jalen Brunson of Villanova (2018), Trey Burke of Michigan (2013), and Kemba Walker of UConn (2011).

Oklahoma fans were right about Lincoln Riley, at least for this specific season.

USC assistants need to be coaching for their jobs.

Lincoln Riley did not assemble an elite 2023 roster, which surprised us and a lot of other observers.

Is USC ready to win in 2024 with Miller Moss or Malachi Nelson at quarterback? Lincoln Riley has to be honest about how he answers that question.

Brent Venables is coaching Oklahoma far better this year than Lincoln Riley is coaching USC. It’s up to Riley to change that reality.
