Hannah Stuelke could arguably be the most important variable to just how successful the Hawkeyes are going to be this season. While we know Caitlin Clark is fantastic, and both Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall bring back great starting experience, Stuelke is a breakout star just waiting to happen.
Tasked with providing a jolt off the bench last season, the 6-foot-2 forward showed a ton of promise. She averaged 6.5 points and nearly four rebounds despite only receiving an average of 13 minutes per game. While you can’t always trust per-40-minute numbers, Stuelke clearly showed something in her limited minutes last season.
That potential is already showing early in this preseason, leading the Hawkeyes with 27 points against Clarke in an exhibition game. Sure, that’s against Clarke, but it’s just even more evidence for her case.
On the court, she brings athleticism that nobody else on the team can provide. That’s not even to mention her great size! She immediately is a candidate to take over Monika Czinano’s role in the two-woman game with Caitlin Clark.
She also has the athleticism though to be more than just a post player. If offseason reports are to be believed, her 3-point shot is starting to come around to. There is a lot to be excited about in Hannah Stuelke.
Let’s take a look at her preseason 2023-24 snapshot profile.
