According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, injured Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward returned to practice on Thursday. Heyward does, however, remain on IR with the groin tear he suffered early in the season.
Heyward suffered the injury back in Week One of the season against the San Francisco 49ers. The Steelers defensive line has seriously missed Heyward’s presence in the weeks since and the run defense especially has suffered.
This could be big: #Steelers Pro Bowl DT Cam Heyward returned to practice, though he remains on Injured Reserve.

It’s improbable that Heyward will play this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars. But it is promising to even have him on the practice field. Somehow the Steelers have found themselves at 4-2 and in the playoff mix. A huge reason for this is that the defense has come through in the clutch with some big plays. Getting Heyward back should not only help with the splash plays but moreso improve the play of the entire defensive line on a play-by-play basis.
