Brad Brownell and the Clemson men’s basketball team are fast approaching as the Tigers, with the head coach giving multiple injury updates during Wednesday’s 2023 ACC Basketball Tipoff.
The biggest transfer acquisition for the Tigers this season, former Syracuse guard Joe Girard III, is currently dealing with an ankle injury. Brownell is “optimistic” that he will be ready for their first secret scrimmage.
Transfer Jack Clark just started getting shots up a few weeks back. The Tigers head coach said he is still working toward getting to play full contact ball up and down the court. Similar to guard Alex Hemenway, who is still working through things.
“Jack Clark is still battling some issues with his surgery that he had earlier, so that hasn’t quite got him cleared to be able to play full contact up and down,” Brownell said.
Brownell shared a full team injury update after touching on some specific players. The Tigers are definitely banged up, but the head coach hopes the team will be healthy at the right time.
“We just kind of take a step forward and a step back. It’s been frustrating in the fall. We haven’t had as many guys as I would like, especially when you’re trying to put a new group together, but having said that, I hope we’re getting healthy at the right time, and that certainly needs to be that way next week,” Brownell said.
