Florida could be seeing a whole lot of Duke during bowl season.
We’re talking both Mayo Bowl and Blue Devils here, folks, as Jerry Palm at CBS Sports still has Florida and Duke matched up in his latest bowl prediction update. The Duke-Florida matchup at the Mayo Bowl has been a popular one among experts lately, and the Gators lying dormant over the bye week isn’t forcing anyone to shake things up.
A win over Georgia would do the trick, though. Even a strong performance against the top-ranked, back-to-back national champs might move the needle.
Florida is expected to limp to the finish line with four ranked opponents over the final five weeks of the regular season. Upsetting Florida State, LSU or Missouri might get the Gators out of the Mayo Bowl talk, but experts have to believe that Florida has a chance in those games.
Hopefully, the Gators put up a fight on Saturday so Palm and others can take the team’s postseason prospects more seriously.
Duke’s Mayo Bowl will be played on Dec. 27 at 5:30 p.m. EST at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
