North Carolina senior point guard R.J. Davis is one of two starters returning for the Tar Heels in the 2023-24 season. But he is also one of the best returning point guards in the country.
On Monday, two weeks before the season opener, Davis was one of 20 point guards named to the Bob Cousy Award preseason watch list. The watch list honors the best point guards in college basketball each year and reveals its watch list ahead of the upcoming season.
There will be three rounds of voting for fans on the award beginning on Friday, October 27. Then in January, the list of 20 players will be narrowed down to 10 and then down to 5 in February.
The five finalists will be presented to the Cousy and Hall of Fame’s selection committee for a winner to be selected.
North Carolina has had three winners previously for the award with Raymond Felton (2005), Ty Lawson (2009), and Kendall Marshall (2012) winning it in the past.
