Sixers’ Patrick Beverley talks Ben Simmons, second tech ejection vs. Nets

Philadelphia 76ers guard Patrick Beverley explains what happened with Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons which led to his ejection.

Seldom does a player pick up two technical fouls and get ejected in a preseason game. The preseason is more to get warmed up for when the real games begin.

However, Philadelphia 76ers guard Patrick Beverley did just that. He picked up two technical fouls and was ejected from Monday’s preseason win over the Brooklyn Nets.

Beverley was chirping at Nets guard Ben Simmons after the former Sixers guard delivered a hard foul to rookie big man Filip Petrusev. Simmons and Petrusev picked up double techs, which led to Beverley saying something to Simmons and picking up a second technical foul.

Beverley hopped on “The Pat Bev Pod” to explain what happened with Simmons and the ejection:

First off, Ben Simmons is a hell of a talent. It’s good seeing him back out there. He looks strong. He impacted the game. So when it comes to basketball, I don’t have a problem with Ben Simmons, but when it comes to, like—he was chirping at one of my rookies. Like, c’mon. Filip with an F. You know what I’m saying? You chirping at that guy. You foul him hard as (expletive). I’m talking to you all game, you ain’t saying nothing. Tobias (Harris) cooking your ass, you really ain’t saying nothing…You got eight turnovers…talk to me. I’ve been talking to you all game anyway. Talk to me.

It looks like Beverley is going to fit right in with the Sixers. He has been a terrific vet who makes sure everybody is on the same page and doing what they are supposed to do. His standing up for Petrusev against Simmons is exactly what a guy like Beverley should do.
