Jaylin Williams suffers hamstring strain, will miss start of season

Jaylin Williams will miss at least a couple weeks as he recovers from a hamstring strain.

Prior to their preseason game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault revealed Jaylin Williams suffered a hamstring strain and will be re-evaluated in a couple of weeks.

This means he’ll miss the regular-season opener on Oct. 25 against the Chicago Bulls. Williams suffered the injury during practice.

The Thunder’s frontcourt depth has suddenly thinned. With Jeremiah Robinson-Earl‘s trade, Williams’ injury and Kenrich Williams’ back spasms, OKC has lost several key bench wings.

Williams is entering his second season. After starting last season with the G League’s OKC Blue, he played his way into the starting lineup by the end of the season for a play-in tournament team.
