Former Tiger waived by Philadelphia Eagles

A former Clemson Tiger may be finding a new NFL home in the next 24 hours.

Former Clemson cornerback Mario Goodrich may have to find a new NFL home after the Philadelphia Eagles waived him on Tuesday.

With his release, Goodrich will spend 24 hours on the waiver wire, where the other 31 NFL teams can sign him. If he remains unsigned after the 24-hour period, he is a free agent and can sign where he pleases, including making the return to Philadelphia.

Goodrich was on Philadelphia’s practice squad for the 2022-2023 season, making it to the Super Bowl. He then made the active 53-man roster for this season and played in four games with the Eagles, recording five total tackles before he was waived.

The former Tiger spent four years at Clemson and is credited with 84 tackles (0.5 for loss), 15 pass breakups, five interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 1,116 snaps over 47 games (16 starts). Despite being a First-team All-ACC selection as a senior in 2021, Goodrich went undrafted and signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL draft.
