The nation’s been wondering all year if the SEC is officially in a down year, and according to ESPN’s FPI, the conference is having just that. Georgia and Alabama both fell out of the top five in the models after underwhelming victories over Vanderbilt and Arkansas, respectively.
FPI only gives the Bulldogs, who remain the consensus No. 1 team in the country on every ranking, the seventh-best odds to make the playoffs. Could we see the first iteration of the College Football Playoffs without an SEC team?
Down year or not, there have bene some standouts on the offensive side of the ball down south this season. LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels continued his tear during a victory over Auburn, now pacing the nation with 401.3 yards of total offense per game and up to second in the country in 22 passing touchdowns.
Did he maintain his season-long QBR lead over his conference compatriots? Or did Florida‘s Graham Mertz or South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler make up ground with their dazzling shootout, combining for 736 passing yards and seven touchdowns between the two?
