Georgia star tight end Brock Bowers will undergo surgery on his left ankle after he suffered a sprain against Vanderbilt on Saturday.
The Bulldogs said Bowers is expected to make a full recovery. Similar procedures on ankle sprains typically offer a recovery period of four to six weeks, meaning Bowers could miss the rest of the regular season.
The junior tight end, a projected early 1st Round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, entered Week 7 fifth in the SEC in receiving yards. He caught four passes for 22 yards before he left the game in the second quarter after he was tackled awkwardly.
Georgia has a bye week upcoming before their rivalry game with Florida on Oct. 28. There’s almost no chance Bowers is healthy enough to play the Gators.
