Best photos from the historic Crossover at Kinnick

As they so often do, Iowa women’s basketball put on a show during the Crossover at Kinnick. Here’s the best photos from a historic day.

As they so often do, Iowa women’s basketball put on an absolute show.

And like they seemingly do time and time again, the Iowa Hawkeyes made history. With a crowd of 55,646 in attendance for the Crossover At Kinnick exhibition contest versus DePaul, Iowa set the all-time women’s college basketball attendance record.

It was also the first women’s basketball game to be played outdoors in a football stadium. And, as Iowa fans know, there’s no better place than Kinnick Stadium.

It got rocking from the word go with the Hawkeyes’ entrance to “Back In Black” and a patented Caitlin Clark triple-double would ensue. There were some other notable takeaways as well from Iowa’s 94-72 exhibition win over DePaul.

But, the biggest was the impressive showing from Iowa fans and what this means for women’s basketball and women’s sports.

“What a day for our state and the game of women’s basketball. Fifty-five thousand people in attendance is crazy. I appreciate our administration for backing my idea and not giving any push back on the idea. Today was everything we could’ve imagined and I’m happy for our girls because they got a once in a lifetime opportunity,” Iowa head women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder said afterwards.

It was truly quite the day. Here’s a look at the historic day through these sensational photos.
