Report: Steelers have no plans to fire OC Matt Canada during season

The Steelers will not make a change at offensive coordinator this season, according to The Athletic.

Steeler Nation has been literally chanting for the Pittsburgh Steelers to fire offensive coordinator Matt Canada. However, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Steelers have no plans to make a change in season regardless of how poor the Steelers offense performs after the bye week.

“I was told if a move was going to be made, it would have happened already, Russini noted. “Though fans have criticized Canada and his play calling, Steelers players and coach Mike Tomlin have continued to show him support. I was told the team held a meeting this week to come together and search for some answers as they approach the bye week.”

The Steelers offense is currently No. 29 in the NFL in points scored and No. 30 in yards. I suppose you could say they can only go up from there, but we know that isn’t true.

We will find out pretty quickly if the Steelers can use the week off the way they did last season to get the run game on track and hopefully reverse the fortunes of the offense. The Steelers travel to Los Angeles to take on the Rams in Week 7.
