The Huskers concluded their weekend of matches by squaring off with No. 13 Penn State. The Nittany Lions came into Lincoln with a nine-game winning streak, but Nebraska snapped it with a clean sweep (25-22, 25-22, 25-19).
The Huskers battled with Penn State throughout the match and came out on top in each set. Nebraska finished the match with 46 kills off 108 attacks. The Nittany Lions finished with just 32 kills off 111 attacks.
Merritt Beason, Lindsay Krause and freshman Harper Murray acted as the Huskers’ driving force. The trio combined for 36 kills off 85 attacks and 15 digs. Beason and Krause both racked up 13 kills while Murray delivered 10.
Freshman Bergen Reilly put together another big performance as the team’s setter, finishing with 33 assists. Lexi Rodriguez also delivered as libero, putting up a season-high 18 digs in the win.
Nebraska is now 17-0 and will hit the road once again for its next match. The Huskers will travel to Illinois to take on Northwestern. The match is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday and can be viewed on B1G+.
