Texans place No. 15 in CBS Sports’ Week 6 NFL power rankings

The Houston Texans are No. 15 in the latest NFL power rankings from CBS Sports for Week 6

The Houston Texans’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons was disappointing in two aspects. The first is it robbed Houston the chance to post a three-game winning streak for the first time since 2018. The second aspect is it stole C.J. Stroud’s first opportunity to record a fourth quarter comeback and game-winning drive for his career.

Although the Texans faltered and the Falcons prevailed 21-19 with a walk-off field goal from Youghoe Koo at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Oct. 2, the positives Houston demonstrated were undeniable.

According to Pete Prisco from CBS Sports, the Texans are the 15th-best team in his latest power rankings.

C.J. Stroud still has not thrown a pick, which is amazing. At 2-3, with a tough loss Sunday to the Falcons, they are one of the most improved teams in the league.

One area where Houston needs improvement is in their points off turnovers. The Texans swiped two fumbles from the Falcons, but managed just three points. In a game of inches where points are at a premium, coming away with just a field goal off two freebies is a recipe for losing.

Across the rest of the AFC South, the Tennessee Titans were No. 17. The Indianapolis Colts were ahead of the Texans at No. 13. The defending champion Jacksonville Jaguars were No. 9.
