The Atlanta Falcons have released inside linebacker Andre Smith from the 53-man roster in order to make room for wide receiver Van Jefferson. The team acquired Jefferson in a trade with the Rams on Tuesday afternoon.
Don’t be surprised to see Smith land back on the 16-man practice squad this week since the Falcons just released wideout Xavier Malone.
The Falcons have acquired WR Van Jefferson and a 2025 7th-round pick, in a trade with the Rams, for a 2025 sixth-round selection.
Also, Andre Smith Jr. was released from the 53-man roster + WR Zay Malone was released off the practice squad.

The Falcons only gave up a 2025 sixth-round pick for Jefferson and the Rams’ 2025 seventh-round selection. Jefferson, 27, was originally a second-round pick by the Rams in 2020.
Check out the team’s updated 53-man roster following Tuesday’s transactions.
