According to ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, the New York Jets are exploring potential trades for wide receiver Mecole Hardman. After carving out a niche as a speed receiver with the Kansas City Chiefs in his first four seasons, Hardman signed with the Jets as a free agent but has failed to find a place on the offense.
Hardman would be a fascinating addition to the Steelers offense still looking for an identity. Through five games, wide receiver George Pickens is the only receiver who has asserted himself in the passing game. This is even more true now with Diontae Johnson on IR.
The #Jets are looking at options for Mecole Hardman, including a potential trade, per league sources.
Hardman was inactive Sunday and has not been in the plans despite signing a one-year, $4M free agency deal with upside to $5.5M. Jets can find him a new home and more playing… pic.twitter.com/zHphIuhPP3

Pittsburgh added Allen Robinson in the offseason and got Calvin Austin back off of injury but neither guy has played to the level we expected. Adding another burner like Hardman could push safeties out of the box to improve the run game. He’s very similar to Austin in terms of his game but with much more NFL experience.
