After some of that really positive and mobile-looking footage of Joe Burrow went live from Wednesday’s Cincinnati Bengals practice, the star quarterback himself took to the podium and offered a positive spin on his injury outlook.
Let Burrow tell it, he says this is the best he’s felt coming out of a game in a long time.
“Big part of my game in the past is stealing a first down with my legs,” Burrow said. “That’s still coming back… I’m optimistic for this week.”
And this big one: “This is the best I’ve felt after a game. So I am optimistic.”
Granted, that game was the humiliating loss to the Titans in which he had zero mobility. But the revelation that there were no setbacks and the calf responded well to the rigors of a game is a pretty big deal.
The Bengals will need Burrow to be more mobile on that calf against Arizona because defenses aren’t scared at all of blitzing him and he hasn’t been able to create as a runner.
Paired with the practice footage, this feels like a pretty good sign for Burrow and the Bengals.
