Initial prognosis for Matthew Judon not looking good

Matthew Judon could miss some time for the Patriots

If losing to the Dallas Cowboys in embarrassing fashion wasn’t enough, the New England Patriots might have also lost their star defensive playmaker, Matthew Judon, as well.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the four-time Pro Bowl linebacker suffered a lower biceps tendon tear in the 38-3 loss to the Cowboys.

Judon was said to be in “good spirits” after the game, but there was also a feeling that he could be out for a significant amount of time when hearing his teammate Deatrich Wise Jr. talk about the injury.

“Devastating. He was in good spirits. … We’ll be with him this year, and he’ll be with us too,” Wise said, via NESN’s Dakota Randall.

The outside perspective from longtime NFL team physician Dr. David J. Chao also painted a daunting prognosis for Judon.

The Patriots’ defensive players have been dropping like flies since the start of the season. They lost standout rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez in the first quarter of Sunday’s game.

Judon’s potentially lengthy absence is a gut punch in what has started off as a nightmare season for New England.
