Tennessee (4-1, 1-1 SEC) won its first Southeastern Conference game during the 2023 campaign on Saturday.
The Vols defeated South Carolina (2-3, 1-2 SEC), 41-20, at Neyland Stadium.
“Great evening inside of that stadium,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said. “Our fans were what I expected and were an impact on the football game. I said earlier in the week that they needed to be a part of this football game, and they were today. Thank you to them, from Vol Walk to warmups, most of the stadium was full with 40 minutes to go, and then all night long they were relentless in their effort and energy, too, so thank them.
“We are going to need them, this football team, this journey in 2023, we need them the rest of the way when we are at home to be that same way, so they need to enjoy the bye week, too, and get ready to go for the following one.”
