On Celtics’ Jayson Tatum not needing wrist surgery ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season

The wrist injury he suffered in 2022 still lingered throughout 2023 and remains a potential concern if it does not indeed heal.

After multiple seasons of All-NBA Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum having to deal with a nagging wrist injury, there was some concern that the St. Louis native might need some offseason wrist surgery this summer. But Tatum took the time to get his wrist checked out in detail by specialists to ascertain the seriousness of the injury, and whether it might be healed with a more extended period of rest.

Now, there is good news as Tatum doesn’t need left wrist surgery, as the specialists revealed this summer with the Duke alum opting instead for another cortisone shot. The wrist injury he suffered in 2022 still lingered throughout 2023 and remains a potential concern if it does not indeed heal.

CLNS Media reporter Bobby Manning reacts to the news and wonders whether Tatum will fully shake the soreness any time soon on a news edition of the “Garden Report” podcast.
