North Carolina standout Armando Bacot is back for his final year with the program, opting to use his COVID year and return to help get the Tar Heels back on track.
As Bacot returns, he will not only be North Carolina’s leader but he will be among the best players in the country. And one publication has him as a player that will impact the college basketball landscape.
John Fanta of Fox Sports released his list of the 40 most impactful players and coaches for the upcoming season. Sitting at No. 4 on the list is Bacot:
In the last two seasons, no player has been more important to his team than Bacot. North Carolina went from being an 8-seed to reaching the national championship game, then went from being the preseason No. 1 team … to missing the Big Dance altogether. Bacot has seen it all, while at the same time achieving history of his own. It’s wild to think Bacot is already North Carolina’s all-time leading rebounder with 1,335 boards and 68 double-doubles.
Can UNC bounce back? That starts with Bacot’s leadership.
Fanta has a point.
If the Tar Heels do want to bounce back and have a successful season, it’s likely on the shoulders of Bacot. He will by far be the most important player on the roster and the hope is that he can lead the Tar Heels back to where they need to be.
