Tennessee announced on Thursday a promotion for former Vol Richard Jackson.
Jackson will serve as an assistant coach for Tennessee. His promotion comes after a change by the NCAA in allowing schools to add a third full-time assistant coach.
“Loyalty and family are two things that everyone in our group takes very seriously, not just with words but with actions,” Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello said. “Richard was a great teammate and competitor as a player and continues to be both of those things regardless of his title.”
Jackson pitched for the Vols from 2016-19.
He served as a student assistant at Tennessee in 2020 before being promoted to a volunteer assistant from 2021-22.
