It wasn’t the best weekend for [autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] on the field and that was reflected on ESPN.
Every week the network has a bottom 10 (subscription required), and this week the Irish made the list. Checking in at No. 5, Ryan McGee called Notre Dame the Fighting’ Abacuses for fairly obvious reasons.
He expanded on the misery of wearing the unlucky green jerseys after the Irish had just 10 players on the field during the last play against Ohio State “and three … wait … sorry, we don’t have three points. We accidentally miscounted and come up one short. Get it? Too soon?”
The article is a parody and shouldn’t be taken too seriously or should it? Unfortunately this wasn’t the first time Notre Dame miscounted players on the field; it did so against Tennessee State earlier this year as well.
So uh, Notre Dame only had 10 players on the field on this play. Tennessee State nearly scored a touchdown.

As Tyler Horka mentioned, this can’t happen against better teams, but it did and cost the Irish a big-time win.
