Report: Jimbo Fisher provides injury timeline on Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman

During his weekly press conference, Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher provided an injury timeline for sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman.

Texas A&M received some encouraging news regarding sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman’s injury status. Though it remains early, it appears that the Maroon and White avoided a nightmare scenario.

During his weekly press conference, head coach Jimbo Fisher indicated that Weigman is “day-to-day” with an ankle sprain and has some light swelling. As for the sophomore’s status for Saturday’s bout against Arkansas, that remains to be seen. The good news is that all parties avoided a potential season-ending scenario.

Fisher further clarified that Weigman’s ankle sprain is not a high ankle sprain, which generally has a recovery timeline of four to six weeks.

Fisher’s update during his press conference seems to conflict with one of the latest reports from AggiesToday. Sources told AT that Weigman did suffer a high-ankle sprain, thus sidelining him for around “two to four weeks.”

Weigman exited last weekend’s matchup with Auburn with 4:30 left to go in the second quarter and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game. Senior Max Johnson started the second half, finishing 7/11 for 123 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

With mere days in between Saturday’s head-to-head with Arkansas, it remains to be seen whether Weigman will be able to take the field. If not, Johnson will likely get the start. The veteran southpaw appeared in four games for the Aggies in 2022 and has 29 game appearances on his resume to date.
