NASCAR, Cup Series teams meet to continue negotiations on charter agreement

NASCAR and its Cup Series teams meet to continue negotiations on the charter agreement that expires after the 2024 season.

NASCAR and its Cup Series teams have been working on a new charter agreement for some time now; however, the latest update suggested that talks were not going very well for either side. After a quiet period of about three weeks, there has been another update on the negotiations, which seems to be a positive one.

According to FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass, NASCAR and its teams met on September 19th to have negotiations over the charter agreement. This comes after Denny Hamlin said the talks were not going well with the agreement set to expire at the conclusion of the 2024 season. The organizations want the charter agreement extended as it remains beneficial to everyone.

The idea of having a guaranteed entry and more every single week is great for those who have a charter. In fact, Spire Motorsports just purchased a charter for around $40 million from Live Fast Motorsports. The charter market is incredibly high but an entry into NASCAR’s top level should be worth a lot. For now, negotiations will continue between both sides with hopes of a resolution soon.
