Joe Burrow took first-team reps Sunday, is game-time decision

An injury update on Joe Burrow.

The latest update in the Joe Burrow injury saga for the Cincinnati Bengals hints that he could be on the upswing for Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Speaking before Sunday’s games, Jay Glazer revealed that Burrow took all of the first-team reps in the walkthrough on Sunday and that he’s a game-time decision.

PFT’s Mike Florio summarized:

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, acknowledging that it’s a “serious” calf injury for Burrow, reports that Burrow took reps on Saturday with the scout team, and that he took first-team reps in a Sunday walk-through.

We already knew Burrow was a decision the team would make by kickoff on Monday night and not before that. But new here, besides seeing the calf injury described as serious, is the fact Burrow got the first-team reps on Sunday.

If the team knew Burrow wasn’t going to start against the Rams, he probably doesn’t get those reps because it wouldn’t be much of a stress test on the calf, anyway, and Browning is going to need as many reps as possible with the starters.

Earlier Sunday, a different report revealed that there are those in the Bengals organization truly divided on whether to risk Burrow on Monday night.
