Andre Iguodala reveals Jordan Poole’s frustrations with the Warriors

The former Golden State Warriors champion revealed why Jordan Poole became frustrated with his role in the rotation.

Jordan Poole‘s tenure with the Golden State Warriors ended this summer following a messy year-long situation between him and Draymond Green. However, Poole also appeared to have trouble accepting his role within Golden State’s rotation last season and often appeared to be going off script.

During a recent appearance on JJ Redick’s “Old Man and the Three” podcast, four-time Warriors champion Andre Iguodala discussed Poole’s frustrations and why his role within Golden State’s rotation was a hindrance to the young guard. Iguodala also shared how he tried to give Poole some advice throughout their time together.

“It was a hindrance to Jordan Poole. Jordan was like, ‘Why can’t I go out and be free like them?’  Yeah, he doesn’t have four rings; he has one. But he won us a game in the finals. He did do that; he won us game five. And so he’s coming back like, ‘no, I’ve shown y’all that, give me some freedom. And I’m on the team in scoring. So, why should I be the guy that has to dial back?’

…He’s my brother, he knows this, I love him to death…It looked like it could have been a rebel in there. Like, nah man, I’m second on the team in scoring. When we first got into the league, if you was a bucket, you got to take off on the other end.”

Poole will now continue his career with the Washington Wizards, where he projects to have more freedom on offense as he bids to prove himself as a building block for the future.

On the other hand, Golden State will now be integrating Chris Paul into their rotation, as he joined the team as part of the Poole deal earlier this summer.
