Bryce Young not practicing on Thursday

Panthers QB Bryce Young (ankle) will not participate in practice today.

The Carolina Panthers may already be without Bryce Young, just three weeks into his rookie season.

As reported by Darin Gantt of Panthers.com this morning, the 2023 No. 1 overall pick will not participate in Thursday’s practice due to an ankle injury. He also did not participate in Wednesday’s walk-through.

Young sustained the setback some time during Monday night’s loss to the New Orleans Saints. The 22-year-old, however, did finish out the contest—orchestrating a touchdown drive on the team’s final possession.

13th-year veteran Andy Dalton will now get first team reps in today’s session. Head coach Frank Reich spoke about the confidence he has in the three-time Pro Bowler yesterday.

“If Andy’s the starter, we got a lot of confidence,” he said. “This is why you bring someone like Andy in. Our goal is to put our team in position to win championships. And even despite a tough start—that’s still our vision, that’s still our goal, that’s what we’re working towards.
