Brooklyn Nets guard Mikal Bridges has seen the perception of him as a player shift from good role player during his days with the Phoenix Suns to a potential All-Star with the Nets. In line with the change in the way that the NBA world views Bridges, he was ranked pretty high on one outlet’s top-100 NBA player list.
In a recent article by CBS Sports in which the outlet gave its rankings for the top-100 players in the NBA, Bridges ranked 29th on the list. That listing puts him right behind Memphis Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson Jr. and right in front of Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.
Bridges, 27, could be set up for a massive season in wake of Brooklyn moving on from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. In 27 games last season as a Net, Bridges averaged 26.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and 37.6% from three-point land.
Here’s what CBS Sports had to say about Bridges’ ranking on this list:
“Bridges jumps 22 spots from last season’s rankings, and for good reason. He turned into a star in Brooklyn following a mid-season trade from Phoenix. After he got to the Nets, he averaged 26 points over 27 games on 47-38-89 shooting splits before coming out of the postseason gate with 30 in Game 1 vs. Philadelphia. For my money, Bridges is a top-two perimeter defender along with Jrue Holiday, and he might not be No. 2. Bridges is a plus 3-point shooter who is effective both on and off the ball, making him a fit for any system. He’s a no-doubt future All-Star, and perhaps All-NBA.”
