All-Pro RB Josh Jacobs has gotten off to a bit of a slow start to the year. That wasn’t unexpected as he missed all of training camp and preseason due to a contract dispute. But it also didn’t help that the Raiders played two of the better defenses in the league to start the year.
While the Raiders aren’t interested in trading Jacobs, they might consider adding another running back to help split some of the workload. The Raiders gave Jacobs far too many touches last season and might be concerned about him wearing down as the year goes on.
According to Jordan Schultz, the Raiders have checked in with the Rams about a possible trade for Cam Akers, who has fallen out of favor in Los Angeles. Just how likely is a potential trade? That is not known at this time.

It’s still possible Akers gets released (salary reasons), but the team is actively shopping him and he’s more than… pic.twitter.com/ZZ3KZJJIvD

Akers tore his Achilles before the 2021 season, but was able to return before the playoffs. He had a solid 2022 season despite constant trade rumors and an early-season benching. Akers is in the final year of his rookie contract, but would be an upgrade over Zamir White, if the Raiders decided to go in that direction.
However, don’t expect the Raiders to make any move here right now as they were likely just gauging the price on a former second-round pick from Florida State.
