While many of the top teams in the SEC struggled — or outright lost, in Tennessee case against Florida — LSU’s story was quite different.
Despite an 11 a.m. local kick on the road, the Tigers didn’t have an ounce of sluggishness, playing a nearly flawless game on both sides of the ball en route to a 41-14 win.
Georgia, meanwhile, needed to overcome a 14-3 halftime deficit against South Carolina while Alabama was knotted at three with South Florida late into the game before pulling away to a 17-3 win.
Appearing on “The Matt Barrie Show,” SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum said you have to seriously consider LSU in the discussion regarding the top team in the league.
“I think you have to, especially in the [SEC] West. I’m holding onto Georgia [in the SEC East],” Finebaum said, per On3. “The good thing about the [SEC] West is that the conference losses haven’t happened yet, meaning A&M lost, LSU lost, even Arkansas lost.”
LSU certainly has a clear path in the SEC West with several teams taking losses, and it could hand Ole Miss one of its own in two weeks. The Tigers will face tougher tests in the coming weeks, and we’ll get a much clearer picture of where this team stands.
