After being inactive for the opener against the Bengals for the Cleveland Browns, rookie third round pick Siaki Ika missed practice Thursday and Friday while seen wearing a boot on his injured foot. This would have been a week that Ika could’ve been active as the Steelers will likely try and run the ball against the Browns.
It was a decent preseason for the former Baylor Bear who should have good ability to anchor against the run though he struggled to rush the passer. It made sense for him to be inactive against a spread offense like Cincinnati but his loss as a run defender could be felt in the coming weeks.
As of writing this piece, there is no timetable or specifics about the injury though I’m sure Kevin Stefanski will give some update with the game closing in. However, the team should be okay as the veteran additions on this defensive line had great performances last week.
