NASCAR announced on Friday afternoon that Bristol Motor Speedway will hold two dates on the concrete track during the 2024 season. This comes after Bristol Dirt replaced the spring date in 2021. The two dates for the concrete track are unknown at this time but it does officially mean that Bristol Dirt is gone next year.
Overall, this is a brilliant move by NASCAR and one that should have been a no-brainer. The sport’s best track is arguably Bristol and many drivers have vouched for two concrete dates. While the NASCAR Cup Series would benefit from having a dirt race on the schedule, it should be at a true dirt track and not a famous venue already on the calendar.
This also means the Easter Night race at Bristol could be no more since there wasn’t a firm date linked to either event. Perhaps, NASCAR could find a way to incorporate North Wilkesboro Speedway onto the schedule to make it a primetime event. Either way, NASCAR made the correct decision by returning to two concrete dates at Bristol for at least the 2024 season.
