The Auburn Tigers are 2-0 and are continuing to catch the attention of the national media.
Following last Saturday’s 14-10 win over California, USA TODAY Sports’ Paul Myerberg has placed Auburn at the No. 60 slot of his weekly re-rank list, which is an increase of ten positions from the previous week. The Tigers are now one spot below Michigan State and are ahead of programs such as BYU, Arizona, and Missouri.
This week, the Tigers step out of FBS play by welcoming FCS member Samford to the Plains. The Bulldogs do not qualify for this re-rank, but it is worth noting that four of Auburn’s remaining opponents are ranked in the top 25 this week: No. 1 Georgia, No. 14 Alabama, No. 16 LSU, and No. 19 Ole Miss. Auburn’s first SEC opponent, Texas A&M dropped 12 spots to No. 31 after falling to Miami over the weekend.
Rice is this week’s biggest climber as they bump up 35 places to No. 73 following an overtime upset win over Houston. Kansas also jumped 32 paces after knocking off Illinois. Several of this week’s biggest drops include Pittsburgh (-28 to No. 51), East Carolina (-25 to No. 85), and Nebraska (-24 to No. 90).
