The Colorado Buffaloes defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday in Deion Sanders’ first home game at Folsom Field.
However, one big storyline was the apparent disrespect of Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule, who led his team onto the midfield logo prior to the game and sparked quite an outrage on social media.
On Monday, Rhule spoke on the incident and shared that he meant no disrespect by it (h/t Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald):
Rhule says he’s “never disrespected an opponent a day in my life.” Said the pregame moment at CU was a pregame moment of prayer/ask for blessing that everybody stay safe. Said he invited Shedeur to prayer as well.
Shedeur Sanders was clearly unhappy with the way things went down, and he didn’t hesitate to let his feelings be known following the game, saying it was “extremely personal.”
After Rhule’s latest clarification on the pregame incident, it will be interesting to see if this brings any changes from the Colorado front.
Get the popcorn ready, but the Buff definitely got the upper hand by beating Nebraska regardless of the meaning behind Rhule’s pregame festivities.
