After four straight years of missing the playoffs, the San Antonio Spurs caught a break this summer. They landed the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, selecting Victor Wembanyama. The 19-year-old Frenchman has enough talent to change the course of the franchise, and he could help them get back into the postseason.
For now, it seems as though the Spurs will embrace a rebuild of sorts, and that’s smart. Prioritizing youth development is important, especially with guys like Jeremy Sochan, Devin Vassell, and Sidy Cissoko on the roster. But while the Spurs are going to be a very young team for the time being, they still have talent.
What are their chances of making the playoffs right away? Could they sneak in? The Backyard Buckets YouTube channel seems to think so.
With Wembanyama leading the way, could the Spurs snap their playoff drought sooner rather than later?
