The North Carolina Tar Heels won a hard-fought battle at home in Week 2 against Appalachian State in a double-overtime game that went down to the final play.
But even with the win, the Tar Heels didn’t do it in convincing fashion and it cost them spots in the Associated Press Top 25.
In the new poll released on Sunday, the Tar Heels fell three spots from No. 17 to No. 20. The ‘style points’ weren’t there for the Tar Heels and it cost them in the eyes of voters.
North Carolina is still the second-highest ranked team in the Atlantic Coast Conference, behind only Florida State who are No. 3 in the poll. Behind UNC is No. 21 Duke, and No. 22 Miami while Clemson is receiving votes.
The Tar Heels will continue their non-confernece schedule this week as they host a 2-0 Minnesota team in Kenan Memorial Stadium.
