Harlon Barnett named interim head coach of Michigan State football amid Mel Tucker sexual harassment investigation

Mel Tucker has coached his last game for Michigan State amidst sexual harassment investigation

According to a report from Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, Michigan State football secondary coach Harlon Barnett has been named interim head coach of the Spartans after details of a sexual harassment investigation involving Mel Tucker were released Saturday night.

Athletic director Alan Haller announced in a press conference on Sunday that Mel Tucker had been suspended without pay.

Haller also announced Mark Dantonio will act as associate head coach.

According to the report, from Kenny Jacoby of the Lansing State Journal, Tucker is being accused of harassment by Brenda Tracy, a rape survivor who works with college athletes.

Tracy filed a complaint against the head coach in December of 2022. The school responded by hiring an outside Title IX attorney to investigate the complaint according to the investigative report from USA TODAY and Kenny Jacoby.
